As I embark on my "soon to be first time grandmother" journey, I figured what better way than to crochet a blanket. A perfectly soft and comfortable 'binky' that would help expedite any ailments, chase away bad dreams, and provide that cozy feeling of me present at all times.
It had been a while since I had taken hold of a crochet hook, and in that nearly three decades, many other things resided in the space that use to house the knowledge of the various stitches and tension required to keep the rows even. So with yarn woven between my fingers and hook in hand, I began my chain stitch.
After restarting a few times to get a better feel of things, I was well on my way to the cozy monster slaying medicinal enveloping comfort of <fill in the blank as I still do not have my grandma name>.
After the first, then second, and later twenty something blanket (some were "stroller blankets", which are smaller, and I had never heard of), my husband confirmed we weren't actually expecting a litter of grandbabies.
Since the monotonous stitching seemed to calm my mind after a mentally exhausting day, I wanted to find something else to throw my hook at. I stumbled across the chunky knit pumpkins and cup sleeves, and loved both. So continued my cerebral calming evenings. After making a few each for family and friends, I found that I was constantly being asked where I purchased my coffee sleeve, and after about the tenth time my husband heard someone ask, he suggested I make them for others to enjoy. So I did.
